DIRECTOR - BIO

JUSTIN STILLMAKER

Comedy and violence have one thing in common. Me. Also timing.

Justin Stillmaker comes to directing naturally. At age 11 he snuck onto a film set in San Francisco and ended up directing Robin Williams which ignited his love of comedy and movie stars. In his teen years he filmed his friends’ backyard wrestling matches and learned to edit them by using two VHS players, which started his love of violence on screen. In college he directed an action scene so realistic it got an entire SWAT team called, which created his love of larger than life experiences. Put it all together you get a director that loves violent spectacle and can take the worst parts of life and find humor in them.

A love of big budgets and paying the rent brought Justin to advertising where he has been a creative mercenary for hire. He has directed over 50 spots for brands like Disney, Target, McDonald’s, and TikTok. He created and wrote the voice for several A.I. bots, and once got a joke into a Super Bowl commercial. As a commercial director he seeks to stretch the limits of his viewers reality while highlighting the beauty in the mundane. As a film director he loves nothing more than showcasing the strength of the human spirit against the backdrop of an exploding building.

Justin loves to work in genre because you can sugarcoat life’s hard truths…with blood. He is in development on his first feature which, you guessed it, is a horror comedy filled with practical effects and maybe an explosion.
